We made it to the coast of Washington, near the WA/OR Border. Most of the crew has decided to take advantage of being a few hours outside of Portland. A road trip has been in the works since this gig began months back. It's finally come together and it's was such a perfect change of pace to be in a major city for the first time since May. While the desert, mountains, and ocean towns are fine to work in, it's not necessarily where I want to play. I love the fast-paced city life. I also love the city of Portland.
There were about 7 people staying in 4 hotels throughout the city. Myself and two others used a free night at the Silver Cloud Inn, using some points we earned back in April. (Always sign up for hotel reward programs!) After eating dinner at a friend of a friends restaurant (which ended in a free drink), we pushed on to the Douglas Fir (which ended in a free drink). It was a very cool bar in a part of town I hadn't been to. After too many drinks I ended up in a pizza place that I could never name or find again. It was the perfect place to end the night.
Day 2 in Portland started with a frantic call to the front desk for a pushed check-out time. I woke up minutes shy of the check-out time, hungover, hungry, and needing a shower. After an attempt at getting my shit together I headed to meet a bigger group of coworkers to celebrate a birthday over brunch.
From there I went to Alberta Street, a quick drive from the Downtown area. I was also excited to check out Woman & Women first, a book store featured in IFC's"Portlandia", which was closed on my last venture to Portland in February. Powell's Books was also thoroughly explored as was Voo Doo Donuts. We ended the trip with a box of voodoo donuts including one special cock and bull donut.
Keep Portland Weird <3
